Investment Strategy

WMAS Management Group manages a globally diversified investment portfolio, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative inputs to achieve above average, risk-adjusted returns. We work with Hall Capital Partners LLC as an investment advisor to formulate our investment strategy, asset allocation, and portfolio construction.

To achieve above average, risk-adjusted returns, our investment portfolio consists of six asset classes: absolute return strategies, domestic equities, fixed income, foreign equities, private equity and real assets. These asset classes perform differently in certain economic conditions, such as price inflation or changes in interest rates, and are weighted in the portfolio by considering risk adjusted returns and correlations. We combine these asset classes in such a way as to provide the highest expected return for a given level of risk.

Nontraditional asset classes such as venture capital, leveraged buyouts, oil and gas, timber and real estate are highly illiquid and tend to be less efficiently priced than traditional marketable securities. As a result, through active management and a long time horizon, we invest in these asset classes in order to exploit market inefficiencies and maximize returns.

We do not manage a fund, but rather invest our own capital. Our principal investment vehicle, Kortschak Investments, L.P., will make direct equity investments below $1 million in privately-held, growth companies, principally in the technology sector, and its managing partner serves as a senior advisor to Summit Partners. Generally, we invest with other experienced private investors or top-tier venture capital firms.
